David Montgomery Award

David Montgomery was a lecturer in environmental health at the now named University of Ulster from 1969 until his untimely death in 1989, when he was Head of the Department of Building.

David was an influential Environmental Health Officer who led the campaign to develop and establish the BSc in Environmental Health, followed by the BSc Honours in Environmental Health in Northern Ireland.

On his sudden death in 1989, members of the then Northern Ireland Centre of the Institution of Environmental Health Officers established a prize in his name which is awarded each year to the student graduating from the BSc programme at the University of Ulster with the highest marks. The Award is now presented by the CIEH NI Region.

The Award consists of a crystal trophy held for one year, a certificate and a cheque for £150.
